Hallway

Original Space

The original entryway and staircase were dated, featuring old carpeted stairs, beige tile flooring, and plain walls. The space lacked architectural interest and modern appeal, with outdated fixtures and a somewhat closed-off feel.

New Additions and Changes

Staircase Update

The old carpeted stairs were removed and replaced with wood steps, finished with a special black paint designed for wood surfaces. This paint not only provides a sleek, modern look but also offers durability and resistance to wear. The black and white contrast of the stairs creates a striking visual effect, adding a contemporary edge to the space.

Wall Paneling

The plain walls were transformed with the addition of modern wall paneling. The paneling adds texture and depth, elevating the overall design of the entryway and making it feel more sophisticated.

Railings

The old metal railings were replaced with sleek, modern black railings that match the new staircase design. The clean lines and dark finish contribute to the overall contemporary look of the space.

Lighting and Fixtures

The lighting was updated with a modern, geometric pendant light that complements the new design. The front door was painted black to match the staircase and railings, creating a unified color scheme that ties the entryway together.

Specific Paint Used

For the wood surfaces, including the staircase steps and the front door, a high-quality black paint was used. This paint was chosen for its durability and smooth finish, ensuring that the wood surfaces not only look elegant but also withstand daily use without showing wear. The choice of black adds a bold, modern contrast to the white walls and paneling, making the entryway feel both stylish and timeless.

Living Room

Original Space

The original living room had a dated appearance with beige carpeting, plain walls, and a lack of architectural detail. The space felt somewhat disconnected and lacked modern appeal.

New Additions and Changes

Flooring

The old carpeting was replaced with light-colored engineered hardwood flooring. This upgrade not only modernizes the space but also adds warmth and continuity throughout the living area.

Wall Paneling

One of the most striking changes is the addition of modern wall paneling on the feature wall. This architectural detail adds depth, texture, and a sense of sophistication to the room.

Staircase Update

The staircase was updated with sleek black railings, contributing to a modern, industrial aesthetic. The dark color contrasts beautifully with the light flooring and walls

Window Update

The large window was retained but updated to allow for better natural light and a more open feel. The window frame was modernized to blend seamlessly with the new design

Lighting

Recessed lighting was installed throughout the ceiling, providing even and ample illumination. This modern lighting solution enhances the brightness of the space, making it feel more open and welcoming.

Design Style

The remodeled living room embraces a modern contemporary style. This design approach is characterized by clean lines, a neutral color palette, and a focus on functionality and simplicity. The use of light wood tones, black accents, and minimalistic decor elements creates a space that is both elegant and inviting. The addition of the wall paneling and updated staircase adds architectural interest, making the room feel cohesive and thoughtfully designed.

Kitchen

Original Space

The original kitchen featured outdated wooden cabinetry, a low ceiling with fluorescent lighting, and a bright green patterned floor. The overall layout and design were reminiscent of an older style, lacking modern functionality and visual appeal

New Additions and Changes

Cabinetry and Countertops

The old wooden cabinetry was replaced with a combination of sleek, modern cabinetry in black for the lower cabinets and white for the upper cabinets. This two-tone approach creates a striking contrast, adding depth and sophistication to the kitchen. The countertops were upgraded to bright, white quartz, offering a clean, durable, and elegant surface for food preparation

Ceiling and Lighting

The outdated ceiling was raised and replaced with a modern, recessed ceiling design, enhancing the sense of space. New recessed lighting and pendant lights were installed, providing ample illumination and contributing to the kitchen’s modern aesthetic

Flooring

The green patterned floor was replaced with light-colored engineered hardwood flooring. This update not only modernizes the space but also creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that flows seamlessly into adjacent areas

Island Addition

A new kitchen island was added, providing additional counter space and storage. The island also serves as a casual dining area, with space for seating, making it a functional centerpiece for the kitchen.

Design Style

The remodeled kitchen reflects a modern transitional style, combining the clean lines and contemporary finishes of modern design with the warmth and functionality of traditional elements. The black and white cabinetry creates a bold visual statement, while the wood flooring and quartz countertops add warmth and elegance. The updated lighting and appliances further enhance the kitchen’s functionality and modern appeal.

Shared Bathroom

bathroom

Original Space

The original bathroom had a basic, dated design with a shower-tub combo, plain white tiles, and outdated cabinetry. The overall look was functional but lacked modern style and sophistication.

New Additions and Changes:

The bathtub was replaced with a luxurious walk-in shower featuring large, marble-look tiles that extend from floor to ceiling. The shower now includes a built-in niche for storage and a glass door with gold hardware, adding a touch of elegance and a modern aesthetic.

The old vanity was replaced with a modern one featuring a warm wood finish and rattan-style cabinet doors, adding texture and a natural element to the space. The countertop was upgraded to a sleek, white surface, and the sink faucet was replaced with a stylish gold fixture, complementing the shower hardware.

The lighting was upgraded to a more contemporary style with a gold-framed mirror that adds a sophisticated touch. The new mirror and lighting create a more inviting and brighter space.

The floor was updated with modern tiles that complement the shower design, creating a cohesive look throughout the bathroom.

Subtle decor elements, such as a small plant and artwork, were added to enhance the bathroom’s aesthetic and make it feel more welcoming.

The remodeled bathroom reflects a modern transitional style, blending contemporary elements with warm, natural textures. The combination of marble-look tiles, gold hardware, and the rattan-style vanity doors creates a space that is both luxurious and inviting. The use of light and natural tones makes the bathroom feel open and serene, while the modern fixtures and finishes add a sophisticated touch.

Master Bedroom

master bedroom

Original Space

The original bedroom was outdated, featuring popcorn ceilings, old carpeting, and a somewhat dull color palette. The layout was functional but lacked modern style and comfort, with an old vanity area that didn’t blend well with the rest of the space.

New Additions and Changes

The popcorn ceiling was removed and replaced with a smooth finish, giving the room a more modern and clean look. Recessed lighting was added to provide even, bright illumination, making the space feel open and welcoming.

The old carpeting was removed and replaced with light-colored engineered hardwood flooring. This upgrade not only modernizes the room but also adds warmth and elegance.

The walls were repainted in a crisp white color, providing a fresh and bright backdrop that enhances the natural light coming through the windows. The dark beam on the ceiling was kept, adding a touch of character and contrast to the otherwise light and airy room.

Modern art pieces were added to the walls, and tasteful decor elements were placed around the room to create a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The room now feels much more stylish and cohesive, with each element contributing to the overall design.

The old vanity area was updated to blend seamlessly with the bedroom design. The new design integrates a modern vanity with sleek cabinetry and contemporary fixtures, creating a luxurious and functional space.

The remodeled bedroom embraces a modern contemporary style, focusing on clean lines, a neutral color palette, and a mix of textures to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The combination of light wood flooring, white walls, and modern furnishings results in a space that is both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. The room now exudes a sense of calm and relaxation, making it the perfect retreat.
